I love Kickstarter

Unless you've been living underneath a rock, in a parallel universe where they dont have fun things or have been imprisioned in Arkham Asylum for the last year and a bit, you must have heard of Kickstarter.
Kickstarter is a site where people can help creators and publishers of things in the funding department by giving them some cash to help get the project off the ground and in return getting the product and some cool extras. Its through this wonderful site (and Indiegogo) that some of the coolest projects of this Wargaming year have been made possible.

Heres some of the projects that have been made possible thanks to this wonderous site.

Sedition Wars - Battle for Alabaster by Studio Mcvey and Cool Mini or Not

A boardgame in which the players either take control of the forces of Commander Kara Black and theVanguard or the Evil cybervirus zombie creatures of the Strain. The game is set aboard the deep space research station of Alabaster and will have a Aliens/Dead Space/Event Horizon feel to it. The miniatures are astounding to look at but what else do we expect from Mike and Ali Mcvey but the best? I'll be posting a great deal about this game as the month progresses because my copy is currently on its way!

Dark Heaven Legends - Bones by Reaper Miniatures

Now everyone likes their characters in RPGs to look awesome, even if your not a fan of miniatures on your gaming table. Well Reaper have always been one of the biggest companies in RPG miniatures and with their Kickstarter have managed to make getting all the Minis you need for your encounters cheaply. Bones is a new range by Reaper and replaces their old Pre-painted range with plastic polymer miniatures that dont break easily. If you managed to get in on the Kickstarter then lucky you, as their $100 level saw you getting nearly 300 miniatures! I missed the chance to get in on this Kickstarter but thanks to Reaper's website, I've pitched in my money and will be getting everything from the $100 level for my own.

Dreadball - the Futuristic Sports Game by Mantic Games

Tron meets Speedball in this fast paced bloodbowl-esque game from Mantic. Ever wanted to have american football style matches of Orcs Vs Robots, Space Dwarves Vs Cthullhu creatures or Ratmen Vs intelligent Chimpanzees? Well if you had before this then you would definetly be commited to a padded room. Dreadball looks a bit like Bloodbowl by Games Workshop on the surface but its play mechanics, universe, teams and other aspects are completely different. I didn't manage to get in on this Kickstarter but I am definetly interested in getting a team for it once its been released.

So those are the best examples in my opinion for why Kickstarter is awesome. There are a few more really cool ones that I just couldnt afford such as:

Kings of War by Mantic Games
The Judge Dredd Miniatures Game: Block War by Mongoose Publishing
Zombicide by Guilotine Games and Cool Mini or Not
Relic Knights by Soda Pop Miniatures and Cool Mini or Not
Red Box Games' Fantasy Miniatures by Red Box Games

So there we go. If your looking for funding in the age of the computer, just try Kickstarter!
