Hold It Right There Perp! - Necromunda Report and Something Horrorificly Zaney....

Hail, Children of Technology!

Tis I, Redbranch, Bringing you tales of violence from the last 2 weeks in Tir-Nan-Og!

I've been very pre-occupied with the running of my Dark Heresy campaign that my Necromunda reports have been on a back burner the last 2 weeks. Throne above, please forgive me for such a blasphemy! so lets step back from the world of RPG for this update and delve back into the lovely world of Skirmish mayhem in the Underhive! but first... something is stirring on the cobblestones of a victorian town. Yes, you guessed right! I bought my first Malifaux gang after about 6 months of promising myself that i would. Wyrd Miniatures and their lovely card-based Skirmish game based around Steam Punk Sorcerers, Zombie Burlesque dancers and Gremlin Yokels is a brilliant and exciting change for many gamers. The system works by replacing the concept of using a die for doing actions with a deck of cards and can prove for a very exciting and really unpredictable game. The game uses its own 4 different suites and each suit could activate different triggers and effects on your gang. For more information on the Chaotic Horror Punk stylings of Malifaux or just to take a gander at their wonderful miniatures, Head on over to http://www.malifaux.com/ , and who knows who you'll meet on the cobblestone streets some time soon!

Speaking of Malifaux, the Gang that i bought is Sonya Cridd and her Witchhunters. The idea of witchhunters has always apealled to me and you may hear in future of different exploits of my Witchhunter Mordheim gang (which is still under construction!). I have made and undercoated the 5 models provided in the kit and used Model Display Product Cobblestone bases on them (When i went to pick up a set of bases and a 54mm model produced by them, from Firestorm Games in Cardiff, the Sculpter of the Bases and Miniatures, Steve Buddle was there. A very nice man indeed and i recommend the company if you like detailed 54mm Fantasy miniatures or fantastic bases! Check out their range at http://www.modeldisplayproducts.co.uk/). I played a game 2 weeks ago using them and i have to say, it was very fun. My friend who has the Delaque Cowboys is also a Malifaux player and we decided that we shall would have a game, Him using his Victorias gang (a Gang run by twin sisters that seem to excell in all things combat). The game is very fast paced and works in a similar way to Hordes and Warmachines, with activations but alternating between the players for each activation, making for a very tactical style of game. i however, highly underestimated the power of my gang and held back in the first few turns which gave my opponent a chance to out-manuvour me and eventually, kill off Sonya and her Witchling Stalkers. I shall not intend to make the same mistake twice, i tell you now!

Last week I found another player willing to participate in the small Necromunda campaign that seems to be ongoing. Vandalworks on here or Big Kev as i know him and his Wrestling themed Goliath gang! (check out his blog http://theevandalists.blogspot.com/ to see all things Space Marine related and maybe some BloodBowl action! you might even catch some photo's of Me and my Emperor's Children, im the one with the long hair). Anyway, we cracked on with a gang war game. I took the first turn and set my Arbites into two small squads either side of the board while Kev set his men up in the massive building on his side of the board. My first two turns were a mixture of movement and avoiding being cut to pieces by a Bounty Hunter with a hotshot lasgun. The Next two turns, things seemed to be going in my favour as i downed a took out 3 members of his gang with bolt pistols, then 1 more from falling out of a building. Things were going so well until Kev managed to turn it round and took out my Sergeant and Handler in one turn and downed my Cyber-Mastiff, forcing me to take a bottle check. I failed the check and in the injury rolls my handler was CAPTURED! a rescue mission shall commence on monday to free him. i really enjoyed this game as it was the first necromunda game in a few weeks and Kevin was a good opponent. I look forward to my games on monday, where i shall first have to rescue my handler from the clutches of B.A. Billygun and his friends, then there will be Blood on the Streets as Necromunda becomes the battlefield for a threeway game, Delaque, Goliath and Arbites. Who will come out on top? stay tuned to me and you'll find out!

Those of you that follow my content on Games (the site that i have linked at the top of my page) will know that i have written a 4 part story for Gamers creator Kasey. Flintlocke is the tale of Pirates and Perils on the high seas with captain William Harken, aka Flintlocke Bill! Well look out adventurers as Captain Harken shall return very soon with the next part of the story, Voyage of a Damned Man! Keep a look out for that and if you want to help the site grow or just add content, then feel free to contact Kasey and She'll help to make your geeky things shown on the internet-ermabob!

so Dark Heresy on Sunday, Necromunda on Monday, Something else on Wednesday (maybe WoW RPG?) looks like next weeks going to be full!

So until next time, Keep your Blades enriched with Deeds of Violence!

  1. Man that game of Necromunda was a cracking. I looked over at your deployment, and thought, '6 models against my ten? No problem!' Then you duly took 4 people down on the first turn. Ouch! Luckily I managed to down some of yours and make you run off like well equipped chickens=] Monday should be awesome, I'll try get there as soon as I can so we can get started. Your attempt to rescue a fallen comrade shall be feeble and fail! Then you and the sneaksy Delaque scum shall die!!!

    Fingers crossed=S lol
